AFL newcomer Wylie Buzza admits he has a lot to learn in his new life as a professional footballer but says he is an open book.
Having only played football for the past three years, the 197cm 99kg Queenslander showed enough raw talent to be selected by the Cats with pick 69 in the 2015 national draft.
“AFL is not much of a sport up there. Rugby league is all you play,” Buzza said.
“I think I’m going to be easy to coach because there’s no real bad habits yet.”
“I feel like there’s no real position that I feel overly comfortable in yet, I’m still trying to learn … I’m going to be real adaptable and be happy to play wherever they put me.”
The 19-year-old still pinches himself at times when he realises he is mixing it with names like Selwood, Hawkins and Dangerfield.
“At times it still doesn’t feel real,” Buzza said.
“You know, you might have finished a session and be kicking the footy around on Simonds and just go into a daydream and think ‘what am I actually doing’?”
“But I’m starting to be more comfortable around the big names. It’s a bit different but enjoyable.”
