Cats coach Chris Scott says Matthew Scarlett is already having a big impact in his first year as a full-time assistant coach.
On the latest episode of Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy, Scott was asked: "Have you been on the end of any honest feedback [from] Scarlo since he moved into the box?"
Scott replied: "Of course I have, both in and out of the box.
"He's always honest, Scarlo, but he's a very, very respectful coach and he was a very respectful player.
"He was forthright out on the field and he played the game in an uncompromising manner, and he's taken elements of that into his coaching.
"But you can't just be an uncompromising coach.
"You obviously need to have high standards, but also, I think, Scarlo's finding, and he's adapting really well to this, that you need to have a really balanced approach to the individual.
"Because not all of our players are the same.
"They all have a unique set of circumstances and challenges and it's a coach's job to empathise first and then try to help with the problems afterwards."
