The AFL, which released the ticketing information at 5pm on Thursday, has also urged people to get to 'G early on Friday night.

Public and AFL Reserve gates will open at 5.30pm and the MCC Members Reserve gate will open at 5.00pm, ahead of the first bounce at 7.50pm.

It is recommended that fans arrive by approximately 7.00pm, with those who arrive closer to game time risking missing the teams run out onto the ground as well as the first bounce.

Be prepared and arrive early:

The bag checks and wanding processes which have occurred throughout the 2016 AFL season will again take place at the stadium gates, and patrons are urged to allow plenty of time to get into the stadium.

Express lanes for patrons without bags will also be in operation, and fans are strongly encouraged to avoid bringing a bag unless necessary in order to streamline their entry.

MCC CEO Stephen Gough said that the security measures, which are designed to provide additional safety and comfort for patrons, needed to be factored into fans’ arrival plans.

“We want to ensure everyone is inside the stadium before the first bounce, but these entry processes take time, so fans do need to be patient and arrive earlier than usual,” Gough said.

Public transport:

Patrons are advised to utilise public transport where possible, with heavily reduced parking capacity in Yarra Park as well a significant traffic congestion expected around the CBD and sporting precinct.

“We strongly advise fans not to drive to the MCG if they can avoid it, and to take public transport where possible,” Gough said.

“We recognise that there will be a large number of Cats supporters driving to the 'G from Geelong.

“With limited availability in Yarra Park our message to these fans is to arrive early and consider parking in the city or an area near to the ground; then walk or catch public transport to the stadium itself.”
