Stevie J re-signs
Mercurial Cats midfielder has extended his contract to the end of 2015
Johnson, who set career highs in disposals and contested possessions in 2013, signed off on the paperwork this week.
Speaking to Cats TV, Johnson said the decision to stay a one club player until the end was an easy one.
“I love playing footy here and I really couldn’t think of playing anywhere else so it is a very easy decision.” Johnson said.
With the focus on youth high on the Cats agenda, Johnson said he could see a great future for the club.
“I love the young players that are coming through and I think the club is in a positive position to even take steps forward again this year.”
Cats general manager of football, Neil Balme, said the club was glad to get the extension done early.
“It’s terrific we have been able to wrap this up so quickly. Steve is obviously an important player and he and the club were keen to get this resolved and we have been able to do it. We are looking forward to Steve having another great season for us.”
