Geelong has upgraded young midfielder Michael Luxford to its senior list. The 20 year old Luxford has spent the past two seasons on the Cats’ rookie list.
 
“Michael has improved a lot over his time in the program and we think he has more development in him,” Geelong coach Chris Scott said.
 
"His physical attributes are helping him, but his understanding of the game and his work-rate and his ability to take on knowledge has been the thing that we've been most impressed with. It’s a credit to Michael that he has earnt this promotion to the senior list so quickly in his time at the club.”
 
Luxford was one of Australia’s elite junior basketballers, having won a silver medal at the Under-17 World basketball Championships in 2012, played in Lithuania. He joined the Cats in late 2013 and progressed quickly at VFL level.
 
He broke through to make his senior debut in rd 10 this year against Essendon at Etihad Stadium and also played against Melbourne in round 12. He has played twice at senior level and 27 times at VFL level in his two years at Simonds Stadium.
