GEELONG'S push for a ninth consecutive appearance in the finals will be spearheaded by an experienced Player Leadership Group, which this year contains five members.
The Cats announced their PLG on Monday, with star midfielder Joel Selwood named captain for a fourth season.
The other members of the group are Harry Taylor (vice-captain), Tom Hawkins, Andrew Mackie and Corey Enright.
Enright, who is set to play his 300th game this season, has returned to the group after a two-year absence.
"It's great to have Corey back in the group," Selwood, who was named All Australian captain in 2013 and '14, told CatsTV.
"It was voted by the players, voted by the coaches, that this is the makeup of the [group] this year.
"It's a group that the whole club has put together, in a way. It's got the support from the board.
"We look forward to working together. We're in a position where we think that we can still … contend with these really good sides.
"We've got a job to do and we're really looking forward to getting down to it."
The group has a combined 998 games, six best and fairests, 13 All Australian selections and 13 premierships.
"This group has been nominated as the group to represent the entire playing list," Geelong’s general manager of football, Steve Hocking, said.
"This year we made a conscious decision to reduce the size of the group to allow more efficient decision-making, and these players rated the highest amongst their peers for their values, the way they play and lead.
"We think they will represent the playing group, the team and the club very well
"In reducing the size of the group, Steve Johnson, Mathew Stokes, James Kelly and Mitch Duncan will not be among the formal PLG.
"However, with their experience and standing at the club, all four will continue to display the characteristics that have seen them rated so highly by their peers, coaches and management over their time at the club."
