A RETURN to the forward line is on the cards if Billie Smedts can force his way into Geelong's AFL team in the coming weeks.
Smedts has been used predominantly as a defender when he has played at the highest level in the past 18 months, but the Cats' coaches are looking at using him in a variety of roles in the future.
"We think Billie’s going to end up a really flexible player for us," Chris Scott said on this week's episode of Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy.
"We’ve played him back a fair bit this year, but he’s played more through the midfield and forward in the VFL since he returned from that broken collarbone.
"So he played his early part of his career with us in the forward line. We know he can play that role for us.
"He’s got speed he’s got agility. That’s an option we’re certainly considering."
Smedts was best on ground in last weekend's VFL loss to Footscray. He finished the game with 27 disposals, six marks, four clearances and five inside-50s.
In the latest episode of Tweet The Coach, Scott also discusses:
* The Cats' ball movement
* The form of Jordan Murdoch
* Whether Geelong's midfielders should have more long shots at goal
* Why the Cats' scoring power has been down this season
