Cats young gun Jordan Cunico has undergone surgery on the lateral meniscus in his right knee this afternoon.
Cunico is expected to return in 8-10 weeks after being diagnosed with a tear. Cunico experienced discomfort in the recent VFL clash with Footscray and after consulting with the medical staff surgery was seen as the best course of action.
Geelong’s General Manager of Football Steve Hocking said Cunico’s injury is a slight setback after a strong start to his first year at the club.
“After meeting with the surgeon, it was determined that surgery was the best course of action for Jordan.
“It’s disappointing, but only a slight setback in the scheme of things. We hope Jordan will be able to play some footy towards the end of the season.”
Drafted at pick 59 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft, Cunico has performed well in the first four games of the VFL season.
