The VFL Cats have named their 27-man squad who take on the Coburg Lions this Sunday at Simonds Stadium.
The Cats regain Josh Cowan who will play his first VFL game for the season after suffering a hamstring strain three weeks ago.
Darcy Lang and Cory Gregson will also play in the VFL after being left out of this weekend’s AFL side.
The Cats lose Jed Bews who has been selected in the AFL side to take on Gold Coast Suns on Saturday night. Zac Bates will be managed.
Will Sexton, recruited from the Geelong Falcons and South Barwon, has been selected as the Cats’ 23rd player this weekend.
Coburg currently sit 15th on the VFL ladder having not yet registered a win. In their first three matches they have suffered narrow defeats going down to North Ballarat, Port Melbourne and Box Hill by less than 10 points.
Coburg’s off-season recruit, ex-St Kilda goalsneak Ahmed Saad, will line up on Sunday having started the season in hot form kicking 12 goals in his first three matches.
The last time the two teams met in in round 10, 2015 Geelong 12.12.84 deafeated Coburg 7.12.54.
