Cats TV caught up with James Kelly and journalist Scott Gullan to discuss which boxes the Cats need to tick during the next seven weeks before the finals hit.

Overall, Kelly says the Cats' game strategies are now well in place with only a few minor tweaks needing to be made before the finals.

“I think we want to keep improving all the little things as we go towards the finals, I think fundamentally our game plan is pretty sound and we’ve been playing quite well over the last few weeks, so we want to keep that form up as well as improving a few little things.”

Consistency is another key focus for the Cats, as they turn towards the business end of the season.

“I think getting some real continuity in our side and really settling it down is really important, along with moving the ball really well in defence and other things that go without saying,” Kelly said.

According to Gullan the biggest problem that faces the Cats as they make their way to the final stages of the year, is selecting 22 players out of 30 capable candidates.

“There are so many players; you could count 30 players that have legitimately shown they can play in this team, Gullan said.

“We might come down to round 22, 23 before Chris Scott actually knows the team, so I think that’s the biggest challenge ahead.”
