Rene Caris celebrates a win against the Lions in 2019

Geelong has included two fresh faces for their first home game of the season against Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.

Ruck Rene Caris and key forward Maddie Boyd have been included on an extended bench, with the final 21 player team to be named on Friday afternoon.

Boyd created history for the Cats in their inaugural AFLW season, kicking the club’s first very goal. Caris enters her second season after playing two games last year.

Supporters of both teams are encouraged to arrive early as there will be many great activities and giveaways for the whole family to enjoy at Legend’s Plaza prior to the 1.10pm first bounce.

The Cats will be hunting their first win of the season after falling late to Fremantle in round one.

Their opponent Brisbane defeated reigning premier Adelaide in the opening round and will provide a tough challenge in the Cats first appearance at GMHBA Stadium in 2020.

“After the weekend’s result and being so competitive for so long in the game we are really keen to get a win on the board,” Geelong coach Paul Hood said at Thursday’s press conference.

"The players are burning with desire the get the result.”
