Defender Meghan McDonald and forward Richelle Cranston have been named in the AFLW’s Round 4 Team of the Week.
McDonald was a standout on the last line of defence for the Cats in their 22 point win over Richmond on the weekend.
The defender had 16 disposals and a game-high six marks, many of which were taken at crucial times in the final quarter.
Cranston was recognised for efforts in Geelong’s forward line where she kicked two goals and had 15 disposals.
The two were also amongst The AFL Coaches Association’s votes for the game.
McDonald and Cranston were two of four Cats to receive votes with Olivia Purcell (8) and Phoebe McWilliams (1) also amongst the vote getters.
The AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year is an award voted by the AFLW senior coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.
