This Saturday, ANZAC Day 2020 will look like no other year as Australian society continues to deal with the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Our game is paused for the time being, but we encourage all supporters and members of the community to reflect on the service and sacrifice of all those who have served, and those who are currently serving on active duty.

In the lead-up to ANZAC Day, RSLs across the nation are asking you to show your ANZAC spirit. Whether you’re in an outback town or on our beautiful coastline, this is a place for every Australian to share their ANZAC spirit.

“This year, the RSL’s message to the community is to find a way in your homes to Light up the Dawn, celebrate the ANZAC Spirit and support our veterans through anzacappeal.com.au,” AFL Chief Executive Officer Gillon McLachlan said.

“The message to football fans and the wider community this year is that ANZAC Day is not cancelled, but it is different.

“On Saturday April 25, while you can't go to the Shrine of Remembrance or a local Dawn Service, the RSL is asking that instead you #STANDTO in a moment of commemoration. The AFL, and its clubs, are encouraging all football fans to walk outside at 6am, stand in your yard, driveway, or on your balcony and observe a minute of silence in respect of our veterans.

“So many football fans would usually buy an ANZAC Appeal badge in support of our veterans. This year that may not be possible, so it is important that we all donate online at anzacappeal.com.au.”

All fans are asked to continue their strong support of the current health messages for the community as Australia continues to flatten the curve in dealing with Covid-19.
