Key defender, Harry Taylor, joined Cats TV for Opposition Breakdown, where he focused on Brisbane’s leading ruckman, Matthew Leuenberger.

According to Taylor, it’s Leuenberger who has the potential to do the most damage on the field this weekend.

He doesn’t only have the magic tap in the centre circle. Taylor says the 204cm ruckman also has the ability to kick goals if you give him room to run.

“He’s a great tap ruckman, he’s in the top five of the competition for percentage of hitouts won, and also in the top five for hitouts to advantage.”

“He is also a capable ball winner himself, averaging 12 disposals and one goal per game, which again ranks him very high in terms of total ruckmen in the competition.”

The only way to eliminate Leuenberger’s accuracy in the centre and goal-square, is to invade his path and watch his every move.

Taylor feels this is the only way to keep him from winning the ball and directing it to his men.

“It’s really important that we read where he’s hitting that ball, make sure that we put pressure on the midfielders so he doesn’t get those clear hits to advantage, where they can take it away and kick it up to Brown and the other forwards.”
