This Friday night in front of a deafening crowd at the MCG, Mitch Duncan will reach his 100th game milestone for the sudden death Semi Final against the Kangaroos.

This year the 23-year-old, who hasn’t missed a game all season, has continued to impress his teammates and spectators with his consistent and enthralling performances in the midfield.

Viewing Duncan as a future star in the league, Josh Caddy puts his reliable craft and versatility down to many arduous hours on the training track.

“He’s got a bit of x-factor I think, he’s pretty exciting to watch, he kicks good goals and he takes good marks.” Caddy told Cats TV.

“He’s one of our hardest workers and one of the guys that we depend on a lot defensively to get back and help.

“I think he’s pushing to be one of the better Geelong players now and he’s almost an A-grader in the competition, I think he’s on the verge of being one of the best midfielders in the comp in the next few years.”

This year, following a solid 2013, Duncan was selected to join the club’s 2014 Player Leadership Group, along with the skipper Joel Selwood, Harry Taylor, Tom Hawkins, Andrew Mackie, James Kelly, Steve Johnson and Mathew Stokes.  

Geelong veteran and leader, Kelly, considers Duncan as a “fantastic athlete” as well as a “future leader” of the club.

With an average of 23 disposals per game this year, Duncan, across a number of areas, sits on top of the Cats stats sheet.

After Selwood on 590 touches, Duncan holds the second highest number of disposals taken this year with 527 along with 146 marks, which is only two behind the Cats leader Tom Hawkins.  

Turning into a premiership player a year after his debut in 2011, Duncan had to prove to his teammates, on countless occasions, that he had the pace and skillset for AFL footy, and according to Mackie he has continued to do just that

“I've played with him for a few years now and he continues to get better… we always know we’re in good hands when Mitch has the ball,” Mackie said.
