Johnson receives top votes
Steve Johnson receives high votes for his performance on Saturday
Last week, Steve Johnson fought his way back into the side from the first to the last siren, where he played a pivotal role in the Cats' 68-point victory against Melbourne.
Both senior coaches, Chris Scott and Neil Craig, were impressed with Johnson’s four-quarter effort and believed the Cats' midfielder deserved the 10 votes for the AFL Coaching Association award.
Johnson, who missed the last two games due to suspension, delivered a hard contested performance and was never too far away from the ball. He had the highest number of disposals for the day with 38 including eight tackles, five inside 50s and six marks.
Geelong’s skipper Joel Selwood, who was also celebrating his 150th game, was awarded high votes for his consistency throughout the match. Selwood is still the Cats’ leader on 54 votes, followed by Johnson on 46.
