With an announcement due shortly on the 2020 AFL season, the Geelong Cats are speaking to their most important group, their members, about what the future will look like.
The consequences of the shutdown for the club have been catastrophic with the inability to have fans filling the seats at home games crippling the Club financially.
Memberships, reserved seats and gate receipts provides the club with a significant amount of revenue along with food and beverage sales. All of these revenues have been jeopardised by the inability to not have games with crowds.
A belief in member guidance and insights into the Cats membership program and products has been long held by the club.
Currently randomly selected members from different categories may receive a survey in their inbox asking for their views on the coronavirus situation and how it affects their membership.
These views are helping guide the club as to what changes will need to be made to 2020 membership products to deliver value to our members.
Geelong Cats Chief Commercial Officer, Braith Cox, said the surveys were the most important step as the club looked to communicate changes for the 2020 season.
“We’ve appreciated not just the patience of the membership base throughout this testing time for the whole community, but the incredible generosity and support we are receiving from our members as well.” Cox said.
“After an initial survey recently, it has helped guide us on potential changes and additional offers we want to make to our membership products to show our members how much we truly value and support them.”
“What this may look like depends on the different membership categories, however it is incredibly important that we show what it means for our Members to remain Geelong Strong during this time.”
“The types of changes we are looking at may include things such as price freezes in the future, free upgrades, exclusive merchandise and memorabilia, food and beverage vouchers, gift cards, events and much more.”
“We look forward to sharing these with our members in the very near future.”
In the meantime, the Cats will continue to send out surveys to members to gather their feedback and guide decision making.
