CHRIS Scott says young gun Cory Gregson is likely to be given a rest at some stage during the season, despite his barnstorming form.
In the latest episode of Tweet The Coach, brought to you by Momentum Energy, Scott was asked: “Are you conscious of eventually giving young players like Gregson and Lang a rest so they don’t get burned out.”
Scott replied: “It definitely enters our plans. We talk about it a lot. There’s a long-term plan in place.
“Sometimes those plans are adjusted a little bit, given circumstances.
“For example, at the moment we’ve got a big injury list and a lot of experienced players out, so that makes it a little more challenging to manage those guys through.
“But we don’t run a program where we run our first-year players into the ground.
“We certainly consider a three- or four-year time-frame as being more important than week-to-week.”
In Tweet The Coach, Scott also speaks about:
* The upside of the loss to the Swans
* Whether the Cats ran out of legs at ANZ Stadium
* Whether veterans like Jimmy Bartel and James Kelly are still in Geelong’s best 22
* The improvement of Jed Bews and Jackson Thurlow
