St Kilda’s senior coach Alan Richardson says his team is well aware of what's required to challenge the Cats on their home stage on Sunday afternoon.

Richardson, however, has no doubt this weekend’s clash is going to be another tough encounter for the Saints, as they head into Round 13 with three wins for the season.

“Geelong anywhere are a really fantastic footy team, so it will be another significant challenge for our group,” Richardson told www.saints.com.au

“But everyone will go out with real clarity of what’s expected from their individual role but also as a team.

“It’s pretty clear that our focus is making sure that we maintain pressure for longer and that we are much more consistent with doing the right thing by the team defensively.”

Last Saturday the Saints had an arduous wrestle against the league’s leading contenders after enduring a 70-point loss to Port Adelaide.

“I mean our use of the footy on the weekend was pretty average,” Richardson said.

“Full credit to Port for their pressure but we didn’t help ourselves.

“It’s about maintaining certain facets of the game for longer and that will be our challenge against Geelong down there – there is nothing else we can focus on.”

Last time the two teams butted heads was Round 18 in 2013, where the Cats secured a 101-point win. However, Richardson admits his 2014 team comprises of a very different list compared to last year's fleet, which is also the case for Geelong.

This Sunday the Saints are likely to gain a few promising inclusions into their side. St Kilda’s strong-bodied midfielder David Armitage looks to make his return this week, as well as young skilled defender Jimmy Webster.

The Saints reliable defender James Gwilt is also a test for Sunday’s clash.
