Winning streaks mean zero to Scott
Chris Scott told Cats TV that the Pies winning streak over the Cats won't deter them on Saturday night at the MCG
Scott says that Collingwood’s divergent performances, during Round 1 and 2, told him that Fremantle will be a hard lot to beat and the Cats will have another ominous challenge against the Pies on their home ground on Saturday night.
“The biggest thing we get out of those two performances is that Fremantle is a very good side,” Scott told Cats TV.
“They did improve their performance against Sydney and their strength is still well and truly their work around the contest.
“Scott Pendlebury had one of the better games of the season - and we’ll be expecting them to play the way they did against Sydney on the weekend.”
Since the 2011 Grand Final the Cats haven’t been able to defeat the Pies.
Scott admits that Collingwood’s brand of football is difficult to un-pick, however, he doesn’t believe the Cats will be go in feeling bruised due to past results.
“I’m not a huge believer on games that happened two years ago having an influence on the way we play this weekend,” Scott explained.
“Both sides are very different but they do bring some things to the game that are a threat to us and we need to make sure that we adjust to those.”
Another question that was put to Chris Scott was about Dawson Simpson who has recently pulled back his jumping in the ruck.
Scott ensures that this has nothing to do with his injured knee but his improved balance.
“He previously has always jumped but now he has a little bit more balance in his ruck craft,” Scott said.
“Brad Ottens is doing a great job with him as our ruck coach but also Hamish McIntosh coming into our system has had a big impact on Dawson, they’ve talked about different strategies and Hamish definitely rucks in a different manner to Dawson.
“So we think those two guys working together has improved us but definitely Hamish has had a positive impact on Dawson as well.
