This week on Argue the Toss, Cats TV asked James Kelly and Scott Gullan if Geelong’s goal accuracy is a concern for the Cats going forward after a 13-behind-performance led to a 40-point loss to Port on Sunday.

During the first six rounds of the competition the Cats goal accuracy has fallen from 6th position to 16th with a percentage of 43.9 compared to last year’s 51.

Kelly agrees that it’s an important area of the game that needs work, however he believes it’s a defect of the team not of the individual.

“When that happens during a game you can feel the pressure mount a little bit and you put so much effort into getting it into the forward line and missing the goals does hurt - but it’s a team thing no one is to blame it’s just something that we need to work on,” Kelly told Cats TV.

“There’s no doubt there will be more goal kicking in our training session in the next couple of weeks because that’s something we’d like to be better at.”

With the Cats pool of goal kickers and ability to share the goals around tells Gullan they have nothing to be concerned about.

“They don’t have one set guy that drills it but they generate so many shots that I think it’ll come good.”
