The Scott's supportive mother will face a difficult decision on Friday night, when her twin sons meet for their first ever September clash for the do-or-die Semi Final.

As a fair and caring mother, Chris Scott says her chosen shade of blue is always dependent on who’s running as the underdog.

However, to make things more challenging, the running favourite of Friday night’s family battle between the Cats and the Roos is posing to be a tricky one to decipher.

“I think mum’s policy has generally been to support the underdog; the real question for her this week is to work out who the underdog is?” Scott said.

“I’m not claiming that status, but I’m not claiming the reverse either.

“What I do know is, it will be a hard conversation post game no matter what happens.

“Generally, we need a little bit of a buffer post game because one of us has lost and isn’t in a great mood.”

Since starting their coaching career, the Scott brothers have met six times, with Geelong claiming four of those games, but they’ve never met for a final.

With three AFL brothers of his own, Geelong’s skipper Joel Selwood understands the challenges that come with family battles.

In saying that, Selwood is none the wiser on which way Chris and Brad’s mum will sway on the night of the match.

“It’s probably easier for my mum than Chris and Brad’s… obviously with the boys being twins (it makes it harder), so I’m not sure which way she’ll go,” Selwood said.

“I’ve played against my brothers in finals and it’s the same thing (as during the season). You don’t speak to them too much throughout the week, but then you usually look for them at the start of the game to make sure they’re out there because you don’t give too much away.”
