Cats TV spoke to Tom Lonergan and journalist Scott Gullan about Josh Caddy’s recent development on the big stage.
On Sunday the new recruit from Gold Coast didn’t only equal his career best of three goals, he also scored the most inside-50s for the Cats and had 11 contested possessions out of 18.
Lonergan has taken note of Caddy’s improvement over the past few weeks and is confident he has the expertise of becoming a future star for Geelong.
“Yeah his last four weeks have been exceptional, he took a while to get ready and had a couple of games in the reserves to get to know the program, and now he’s really starting to hit his straps,” Lonergan said.
“I think he’ll be a really good player in three or four years time… he’s already showing little glimpse of what he could be.”
Caddy’s involvement in the Cats VFL side early this year, according to Gullan, has allowed Caddy to find his Geelong legs, which has given him the foundation to succeed at an AFL level.
“I spoke to him last week and he admitted that he over thought things and was trying to make it straight away in the AFL and he went back into the VFL… and that’s where they’re made to work hard and learn.”
