Geelong draftees Darcy Lang, Jarrad Jansen and Jake Kolodjashnij have been allocated their playing numbers for the 2014 season, with the trio set to don jumpers previously worn by Cats premiership stars.

Lang, the Cats first round draft pick, will take on number 11, worn most recently by Joel Corey in 276 games and three flags, and previously by the likes of Brownlow medallist Bernie Smith (183 games, 1951-52 premierships), and premiership players Bob Troughton (92 games, 1931 flag) and Eric Fleming (105 games, 1925 GF win).

Jansen, taken in the second round of the draft, has been allocated number 35, made famous at Geelong by all-time greats Paul Chapman (251 games; 3 premierships), Bill Goggin (248 games, 1963 GF win) and Robert Neal (200 games).

Kolodjashnij, selected with pick 41 in last week’s draft, has been given number 8, worn by Josh Hunt in two premierships and 198 games, and also in grand final wins by Russell Renfrey (201 games, two premierships), Paul Vinar (132 games, 1963 premiership), Tom Arklay (137 games, 1937 flag) and Jack Chambers (72 games, 1925 premiership).

Category B rookie Michael Luxford will don number 37, while Jesse Stringer has switched to number 12 and George Burbury to 31.

Number 12 was most recently worn by Trent West, a key member of the 2011 premiership and previously by Brad Sholl (169 games) and Ron Hovey (141 games, two flags).

The 31 jumper has been worn by James Podsiadly (83 games, 2011 flag), David Mensch (157 games), Roy West (108 games, 1963 premiership) and Bill Hudd (28 games, 1925 flag).
