Geelong’s senior coach, Chris Scott, wants to see his players perfect multiple roles to increase the club's chances of success.

Scott told Cats TV, on Tweet the Coach, that Geelong fans would continue to see a variety of players in positions that they’ve never seen them play before.

He says the club aims to develop players in to flexible and versatile competitors, enabling them to slip confidently into a reverse role when required. Many key position players, including James Podsiadly, spent a lot of hours during preseason adapting to new roles and extending skill sets.

Scott believes this new strategy will add extra depth to the Cats on-field performance and will provide the team with more options.

“Yeah, I think it will be one of the keys, we did quite a lot of work with our key position players through the preseason trying to give them experiences in different parts of the ground,” Scott said.

“Pods certainly has shown us that he can play big parts of games in defense as a key defender and last year we probably thought we relied on too smaller group of players through the midfield.”

“We are trying to broaden that group a little bit and introduce some slightly different types in there, so I think you can certainly look forward to seeing a variety of players in positions that you haven’t seen before this season.”
