Fremantle’s gun midfielder, Michael Barlow, was struck to the jaw during their eighth consecutive win on the weekend, pushing them up the ladder into third place.

The Dockers, who hover ominously behind the Cats, will make the trip down to Simonds Stadium for Saturday night’s blockbuster against Geelong.

Fremantle will aim to send their hardest force this Saturday, and they feel confident Barlow will be one of them. Despite his heavy blow to the jaw, which saw him in hospital for minor surgery.

Before leaving the ground in the last quarter, Barlow had taken 31 touches, seven tackles and five inside 50s.

“Michael is really upbeat and positive about getting back out and playing,” general manager of football operations, Chris Bond, told www.fremantlefc.com.au.

“He will be at home recovering later today and, at this stage, we are not discounting the possibility of Michael being available to play this week or next week.”

Another significant player that Fremantle hope to include on Saturday night’s list is veteran midfielder, David Mundy.

The dominant midfielder has been out with an innocuous calf injury and Fremantles’s senior coach, Ross Lyon, expects he’ll be ready to take on the Cats this Saturday.

“It’s on the really minor side,” Lyon told the Herald Sun.

“We are really optimistic that he will be ready for Geelong.

“But if he is not, there will be no risk.”

Since the Dockers joined the competition in 1995, they have only defeated the Cats once out of 12 games at Simonds Stadium.
