Training comes with benefits?
Cats TV ask if the preseason training match with the Roos will benefit the Cats on Argue the Toss
Cats TV ask, James Kelly and journalist Scott Gullan on Argue the Toss, if training with the Roos during preseason would benefit the Cats in this week's clash?
Despite training with the Roos early in the preseason, Kelly believes that it won’t benefit their game structures, however he feels it has given the team an intimate insight into the North Melbourne players.
“I think we’ll be a bit more aware of their personnel, tactically it’s not going to make too much of a difference because both sides, when we trained together, held a lot back but from a personnel point of view we will know their players a bit more intimately and hopefully we can use that too our advantage,” Kelly said.
Gullan felt the club's preseason training gave the Roos a chance to see how an elite club, like Geelong, conduct themselves during training.
“I think it was more of a good thing for the Kangaroos,” Gullan said.
“I mean the Cats are an established elite team, where as the Kangaroos are finding their feet.”
“They got to watch the Cats train and then join in and I think they were stunned to see the likes of James Kelly, Steve Johnson and Joel Selwood up close, which would’ve benefited their kids more than it would’ve benefited the Cats."
