Tom Lonergan told Cats TV that he sees Geelong’s new recruit, Hamish McIntosh, playing a critical role in the Cats senior list.

Once he’s off the sideline and his body has recovered from injury, Lonergan believes McIntosh will do great things in the ruck and will play a pivotal part in the Cats going forward.

“I’m going to go with a guy who we haven’t seen this year, big ruckman from North Melbourne, Hamish McIntosh.”

“I think, you look over the past 10, 20 years teams that have won premierships have got big strong ruckmen, they win the vital contests… and I think he’ll be critical for us, especially for the second half of the year when he gets his body right.”

The player that has caught Scott Gullan’s attention during this year’s preseason is Travis Varcoe, which is no surprise after he demonstrated a sound come back, after suffering from a nasty spell of injuries.

“I think Travie Varcoe is an obvious one, last time we saw him was the grand final when he kicked that amazing goal and was magnificent…” Gullan said.

“I think Travis Varcoe is an amazing boost for this club.”
