For the second week in a row the VFL Cats the have named a host of big name inclusions for a ‘top of the ladder’ blockbuster against the second placed Williamstown Seagulls at Burbank Oval, Williamstown on Sunday afternoon.

Joshua Cowan, George Burbury and Jackson Sheringham all look set to return from injury this weekend and have been named to play alongside AFL omissions Josh Hunt, Taylor Hunt, Trent West, Billie Smedts and Mark Blicavs.

VFL premiership captain Troy Selwood, playing assistant coach Dom Gleeson and young Grovedale defender Ryley Hall have also been named in the 26 man squad.

For the first time this season the Cats will not have a 23rd player in the final line up.

Jared Rivers, Allen Christensen, Jesse Stringer and Joshua Walker have all been elevated to the AFL side following last week’s 66 point victory over the Casey Scorpions at Casey Fields. They are joined on the list of ‘outgoing players’ by VFL contingent Tom Maas, Robert Condy, Mark Corrigan and Lachlan Howe.

In recent weeks Williamstown have shown why many VFL pundits had them down as the outright premiership favourites at the start of the 2013 season. The Peter German coached outfit have systematically dismantled their opposition and sent an ominous warning to the rest of the VFL competition. They have a core group of VFL listed players that has become the envy of every other club – players such as Brent Prismall, Cameron Wood, Ben Jolley and Jamie McNamara regularly set the tone for the rest of the side. This week’s line up also includes an abundance of Western Bulldogs talent with players such as Patrick Veszpremi, Christian Howard, Nick Lower, Lin Jong and former Geelong Falcon Ayce Cordy.

The match will be the centrepiece of ‘Asian Football Community Day’ – an exciting new initiative by the Williamtown Football Club - that will include a curtain raiser between the Dragons and the Williamstown Asian All Stars commencing at 11.30am, with the main game kicking off at 2.00pm.

In another incredible act of generosity, the Williamstown Football Club will be donating all gate taking from the day to the Casey Tutungi Appeal.

For those that cannot to get to Point Gelibrand on Sunday, the match of the round will be broadcast on VFL Radio – which can be found on Vision Australia Radio, 1179AM in Melbourne and 99.5FM in Geelong, plus Aussie Digital Radio, vfl.com.au and the Red Time Sport iPhone app.
