Cats TV spoke to James Podsiadly and Adam McNicol about this Saturday’s big clash between the Cats and the Swans at Simonds Stadium.

Podsiadly knows the Swans will dish out a blistering battle and he says that Kurt Tippett, who has already kicked 32 goals in nine games, will be one of the Cats biggest challenges.

“They’ve been in good form all year,” Podsiadly said.

“I think the key to them is that they’re really dynamic as a team, they are good on the inside and outside, especially now with Kurt Tippett up forward.

“I think since he’s come into the competition he’d be leading the goal kicking, our key defenders and Harry Taylor have got a big job on their hands on Saturday. At the end of the day their ability to win the ball in the contest and spread is almost second to none in the competition.”

McNicol believes the Cats can break through the force of the Swans scoring ability by getting in the way of their firing line. He says the Swans can become predictable with Tippett up front.

“Tippett brings a positive and a negative, his positive is he’s a massive target, you can do the quick release from the midfield and smack it down there and you know he’ll at least get his hands on it.”

“The downside of Tippett has been that the Swans have been a fraction one dimensional at times and when they lost to Collingwood they just seemed to kick it to Tippett every time.

“I suppose in some ways it’s because they’re missing the run of a guy like Lewis Jetta, who’s been out for a long time with a shin problem.

“So he brings good and bad to the Swans, last year their unpredictability up forward was a big key to their game and I’m sure for the finals they’ll try not to direct every second kick inside-50 to Tippett.”
