Pint-sized utility Zac Bates is now a Cat after being picked up in the 2013 rookie draft.

Bates joins the Cats from West Adelaide .

At 173cm and 73 kg, Bates played a variety of roles across the ground for both his SANFL club and the SA U18 side.

Whilst he can play all over the ground, Bates is primarily a small defender who takes the game on with his run and carry and counter-attack. He has neat skills by hand and foot and can play a variety of roles for his team and is described as having a good feel for the game.
