Yesterday the Geelong Cats ventured out into the community to spend their Sunday amongst some of their youngest fans.

Altogether, the players visited 38 Auskick centres across Geelong, Bellarine and Surfcoast, where they conducted an interactive skills clinic for 2,440 children from 11am to 12pm, followed by a family BBQ.

The clinic not only focuses on teaching specific football skills, it's also about encouraging healthy habits and wellness, as well as educating young athletes about playing AFL.

Torquay’s football oval was full of laughter and red faces yesterday, as Geelong’s Captain, Joel Selwood, and young midfielder, Jordan Schroder, joined Torquay's local Auskick group for some football fun.

Selwood, who is also the NAB Auskick ambassador, sees the program as a great opportunity for the players to share their knowledge and have fun with the kids.

“We realise many of the young stars come from grassroots footy and it’s great for the boys to get out there and share their own stories and skills,” Selwood said.

"It’s great to see all the kids kicking the footy and enjoying themselves, while learning the importance of exercise, health and becoming a positive team player."
