The VFL Cats will this week take on the AFL Academy side in their fifth and final practice match.

The VFL Cats have named a 39-man extended squad for their match this Saturday afternoon at Simonds Stadium. The extended squad includes the AFL side’s extended seven-man bench after coming off a tough 50-point loss to Collingwood last weekend.

The two teams have met once before in an exhibition match at the MCG 2011. In that match the AFL Academy had a nail biting one point win over the Cats.

A number of well known names represented the AFL Academy in that 2011 match including Jeremy Cameron (GWS), Jaeger O’Meara (Gold Coast), Brodie Grundy (Collingwood), Jack Viney (Melbourne), Jake Stringer (Western Bulldogs) and Joe Daniher (Essendon).

Geelong will only have 23 active players at one time and will have the ability to sub players in and out at half time. The sides will play four 23-minute flat quarters.
