This week senior coach Chris Scott joined Cats TV to speak about new recruit Josh Caddy and what the Cats plan to do to stay focused before the finals hit on Tweet the Coach.

There are now only six games left before the business end of the season begins, which means the Cats are already starting to think finals, as Scott said, it’s hard not to.

Despite that, he knows the players are aware of the long road that lies ahead.

“It’s that time of the season where finals are close enough that the boys are thinking about it that’s human nature, but there are still things to be done in the lead up to the finals.”

“We’ve got to qualify yet, obviously finishing in top four is extremely important and that’s far from guaranteed with the competition at the top of the ladder.

“We just need to focus on improving our game, that’s the most important thing and we think if we’re playing at our best at the end of the season that we’ll be very hard to beat.”

Scott admits that is does take time to learn new systems, especially when you’ve come from another club like Caddy, who spent his first two years at the Gold Coast Suns.

Nonetheless, Scott was confident after meeting Caddy that he would easily slip into the Geelong way, which he has, because he carries similar values and attributes that are significant to the club.

“We recruited him to the club because he did have the attributes of a Geelong player, both on and off the field, but there are certain parts of our game style and our system that take time to learn.”

Overall Scott is pleased with Caddy's progress and believes he still has a lot of time to grow.

“He’s only in his third year of AFL football and second if you don’t count his first year, where he was injured for the whole season.”

“Some allowances should be made for the educational process that Caddy is going through.”

Chris Scott also talks about the Cats sleeping patterns, snap kicks and the importance of a home final. Click on the video above to catch the full episode of this week's Tweet the Coach.
