Chris Scott has confirmed that Jordan Clark will line up for Geelong’s Round 1 clash against Adelaide this weekend.

The 20-year-old impressed in the club’s recent pre-season win over Essendon, picking up 29 touches in just three quarters of football and according to Scott, has left the Cats’ match committee with little option but to select him for his 22nd career game in the season opener.

“Jordan will play this week and we are excited to have him in,” Scott told the Geelong Addy.

“He is in terrific shape and has really developed, as we assumed that he would over a couple of pre-seasons…he had a couple of arm injuries that really stunted his physical development and it was a challenging year for everyone, last year, but particularly for him.”

An elbow injury ended Clark’s 2019 campaign prematurely and it wasn’t until Round 8 that he was able to force his way back into the team. A shoulder injury ended his come back game early and he would total just the three games for the 2020 season.

According to Scott, the exciting young Cat hasn’t put a foot wrong over the summer.

“This year he has just done everything he could to force his way into our team, he said.

“How that evolves over time is a little hard to forecast, suffice to say we are confident he will be a very good player for us really quickly.”
