SHAUN Higgins successfully got through training on Friday and is hopeful he has done enough to put himself in contention to return to action next week.
“I’ve ticked off everything that I needed to tick off this week,” Higgins said speaking on Dwayne’s World on Friday afternoon.
“I have just come off a really big session this morning, so I have done everything to make myself available next week.”
Chasing a third straight win, Geelong will travel to the SCG to play Sydney on Saturday night and Higgins is expecting the Swans to be at their best.
“They’re exciting and clearly got some guys that started extremely well this year, maybe a little bit of a lean period the last couple of weeks but we are seeing that in the whole competition.
“We have chatted about our form over the first six or seven weeks and all you can do is go in hoping you play the football you want to and also the opposition that they’re going to turn up on the day and play their best football, so we are well aware of what that looks like and they’ve produced a lot of it this season, so we’d expect they’d get back somewhere near that."
After consecutive wins at GMHBA Stadium the match against the Swans should help the Cats assess how they're tracking.
“It is going to be a great battle and I am looking forward to watching it.
“It is a big game for both sides. They all are this year, but it feels like a win away after having two wins at home it really would help us and go a long way to setting up this first half of the season.
“It is a quality opposition as well, so will be a good measuring stick as well for us.”
