CATS midfielder Steven Motlop expects Carlton to lift for Friday night's clash at Etihad Stadium.
The Blues have recorded just a single victory this season, but Motlop and his teammates won't be underestimating Mick Malthouse's men.
"They will come out firing, I think," Motlop said at Simonds Stadium on Thursday. "Friday night footy's a good spot for them to do that.
"We've had some really good battles with them in the past, and they've got a classy midfield that you can't let off the leash.
"We're going to be looking forward to the game."
Confidence remains high within the Geelong camp, despite the 43-point loss to the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium last weekend.
And a win on Friday night would boost the Cats' record to 4-4, ensuring they remain in touch with the top eight.
"We think against any opposition our best form is good enough," Motlop said. "So after the loss last week we've had a good training session on the track, and we've learned a few things and worked on our game-style.
"We'll be coming out firing."
