GEELONG recorded their third consecutive victory with a 34-point win against the Gold Coast Suns at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Here are the stats that matter from the Round 10 clash, presented by Deakin’s Centre for Sport Research.
Selwood Brings Up GMHBA Stadium Ton
Captain Joel Selwood played his 100th game at Kardinia Park on Saturday.
The skipper was superb for the Cats with a game-high 39 disposals and 10 clearances.
It was Selwood’s 89th victory at the stadium, overtaking Sam Newman as the new record holder for most wins at GMHBA Stadium.
To put that into context Newman’s 88 wins came from 132 appearance at Kardinia Park.

Narkle Steps Up For Cats
When the Suns kicked the opening goal of the third term after the Cats lost Mitch Duncan to concussion at half time and appeared set to play out the second half without their leading disposal winner this season in Cam Guthrie, it appeared like the Cats’ home ground winning streak against the Suns at GMHBA Stadium could be in some trouble.
Up stepped Quinton Narkle who helped ignite the Cats, recording a career-high 34 disposals (23 in the second half), six score involvements and five clearances.

After being starved of opportunities, coach Chris Scott was pleased to see Narkle take his chance today.
“We have a lot of confidence in Quinton, and I think it was a combination of him getting a little bit more of an opportunity, but more him taking that opportunity,” Scott said post-game.
“He is a super player around the ball, and he got a lot of the ball today. He’s a strong, smart player, so there’s a lot to like about him.”
The Marking Machine
Lachie Henderson continued his fine season with a dominant aerial display against the Suns.
The 31-year-old finished with 11 marks to go with 24 disposals, 10 intercepts and seven one percenters.
He was particularly influential early in the game, helping the Cats gain ascendancy in the opening quarter with 10 disposals, five marks and four intercepts.
If he continues this form, All Australian discussion will only ramp up.
Three-Headed Monster Ice Game For Cats
When the Cats were challenged in the third term Geelong's trio of attacking weapons; Jeremy Cameron, Tom Hawkins and Gary Rohan stepped up.
Each had ice in their veins, with the goals coming via set shots from long range or in Cameron's case a classy snap.
Ruck Pair Working
Mark Blicavs and Esava Ratugolea showed promise winning the ruck battle for the Cats on Saturday.
Geelong won the hitout count 59 to 30, well ahead of their season average of 29.8 per game.
Blicavs finished 34 hitouts and six clearances, attending 60 ruck contests. While Esava Ratugolea had a game-high nine hitouts to advantage from 42 ruck contests, plus two centre clearances.
This week they’ll face one of the toughest tasks in the game up against Collingwood star Brodie Grundy.
The game will take place at the MCG on Saturday with the first bounce at 1.45pm.
