JEREMY Cameron is confident he can still have an impact this season after injuring his hamstring in Geelong’s win against Essendon.

The 28-year-old Geelong spearhead was subbed out during the second quarter after feeling increased tightness in his hamstring and spoke to media at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday.

“It’s frustrating but overall it’s not a really, really bad result. it’s not too bad at all,” Cameron said.

“The time that it will take will be the time that it will take.”

A positive for Cameron is that he is already back running but he refuses to declare a return date as he takes a conservative approach and wants to ensure he puts the injury behind him.

“You definitely don’t want to push the boundaries at this time of the year as there is plenty of time to get it right without rushing.”

“It’s all about how we get better now - we will change a few little things moving forward because we don’t want it to happen again.”

Cameron praised Geelong’s medical staff for their support this season and owned the decision to lineup against the Bombers.

“At the end of the day it is probably my choice,” he said.

“I want to say a thank you to them for the amount of work they have put in. I know they have copped it a bit this week but being understaffed a little bit just due to COVID right across the competition.

“They have put in a huge amount of work. There are still 40-odd [players] on the list and all of them still want a massage.”

“Health and safety is always at the forefront when it comes to the doctors and medical staff, they want us playing good football as well, so I can’t wait to work with them and get back out there.”

Cameron was at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday to surprise Geelong supporter Nathan Lloyd, who got the surprise of his life when the star Cats forward gave him his footy boots on Friday night.

Geelong will travel to the MCG on Saturday afternoon for a date with Carlton.
