GEELONG captain Joel Selwood says his team is readying itself to contend again in 2022 after playing in seven of the last 11 preliminary finals.
Selwood is confident the current generation of Cats stars still have plenty to offer when it comes to the pointy end of the season.
“We still think we've got a really strong list together at the moment,” he told 7News.
“We'd like to keep going for it, not only going, but get there and lift that cup up again.”
As the longest-serving captain in Geelong Cats history, Selwood is just three games shy of breaking Stephen Kernahan’s all-time league record of 226 games as captain.
He says he’s not ready to take his hand off the tiller just yet.
“Understanding the club and being there for a long time, I probably know where the club is at more than people on the outside that have their opinions too,” Selwood says.
“There will be a time (to pass on the captaincy), not sure it's now.”
