Geelong rising star Georgie Prespakis will run out onto GMHBA Stadium wearing the number 41 in AFLW season six.
Prespakis will become the first Geelong AFLW player in the club’s history to pull on the number.
The 18-year-old has worn 41 throughout her junior career at the Calder Cannons in the NAB League Girls and will now continue doing so to start her AFLW career.
“I love wearing the number 41,” said Prespakis.
“It’s the number I wore all throughout my junior career and now I’m excited to wear it for Geelong.”
Fellow Calder Cannons teammate and number 7 draft pick, Zali Friswell, has chosen the number 20 whilst Gabbi Featherston, who was taken by the club at pick 9 in the 2021 draft, will be the first Geelong AFLW player to wear the number 32.
Star recruit Chloe Scheer will wear the number 14 vacated at the end of the 2021 season by Aasta O’Connor. A lifelong Geelong supporter, Scheer chose the number to pay homage to her favourite player, Geelong captain Joel Selwood.
Fellow recruit Chantel Emonson who also joined the Cats during the sign and trade period will don the number 16.
The club’s first Irishwoman, Rachel Kearns, will wear the number 22 and VFLW Team of the Year members Liv Fuller and Claudia Gunjaca will wear the numbers 13 and 26 respectively.
Annabel Johnson will wear the number 30 vacated by Rocky Cranston.
