Jack Henry is back training with the main group.

CATS young gun Jack Henry is making strong progress in his return from a foot injury.

Geelong will be hoping Henry reaches full fitness ahead of the club’s season-opening clash with the Bombers after the 23-year-old finished runner-up in the team’s best and fairest last year.

“Henry has progressed to team training,” GM of Football Simon Lloyd says.

“He’s completing a lot of drills and is in a really good position.”

Mitch Duncan has been running for several weeks.

Superboot Mitch Duncan is progressing positively after a minor calf injury.

“Mitch Duncan, as has been reported, suffered a minor calf,” Lloyd says.

“He resumed running several weeks ago and our medical team are happy with his progress.”

Tom Stewart and Brandan Parfitt haven’t missed a beat after both had their 2021 seasons curtailed by surgery.

“They started their pre-seasons back in October and have done huge bodies of work,” Lloyd says.

“Both of those players are having significant influence in team training.”

Mercurial forward Gryan Miers has stepped up his recovery this week after undergoing surgery on his ankle.

“Gryan has progressed significantly from several weeks ago when he was getting around gingerly and on crutches,” Lloyd says.

“He’s now completing large blocks of running and conditioning. The great thing about Gryan Miers is he has a very strong base of work which will hold him in good stead in future.”

Sam Menegola runs laps of GMHBA Stadium with Harry Taylor.

Sam Menegola and Jonathon Ceglar have also been seen cutting laps of GMHBA Stadium as they return from knee injuries.

“Both Menegola and Ceglar are running. They’re completing high volumes,” Lloyd says.

“Sam has now progressed to doing high speed running and both are in great condition.”
