The Geelong Football Club is mourning the passing of life member Stewart Lord.
Recruited from Hamden League Club Cobden, Lord joined twin brother Alistair at Geelong in 1960.
He made his debut for the Cats that same year in Round 1 against Footscray, kicking a goal in his inaugural match.
Lord went on to kick 13 goals from 14 games in his rookie season.
A switch of ends the following year saw Lord establish himself as a consistent contributor for the Cats across half back. He went on to play a total of 74 games for the Club which included Geelong’s 1963 premiership triumph.
Lord retired at the age of 24 in 1964 to pursue a career in coaching which included stints at Camperdown and Geelong West.
Lord joined Geelong’s board in 1979 and served for 20 years, including 12 years as vice-president.
He also served on the match committee under coaches, Billy Goggin and Tom Hafey.
Lord was honoured with life membership in 1982.
The Club offers its heartfelt condolences to Stewart’s family and friends.
Geelong will wear black armbands as a mark of respect in tonight's AAMI Community Series clash with the Gold Coast Suns.
