Four players from the Cats AFLW team have been named in the AFL Players' Association 22Under22 initial squad.

Becky Webster, Georgie Prespakis, Nina Morrison and Chloe Scheer have all been named in the squad of 40 after stellar seasons in the Hoops.

Webster (2021) and Morrison (2020) are the only Cats to have previously featured in the final 22Under22 team since it began in 2020.

Off the back of her breakthrough season in 2021, Becky Webster again stepped up as a dominant force on the ball, with a career-high averages of 16.8 disposals and 6.3 tackles per game, as well as kicking three goals across the season.

Webster was a standout in the Cats' Round 5 win over the Eagles, when she had a career-high 504 metres gained, as well as laying a career-high 11 tackles.

Prespakis has been a revelation for the Cats in the midfield, with the top pick from the 2021 Victorian Draft pool playing all 10 games in her debut season.

The 2021 NAB league best and fairest averaged 13.3 disposals and 6.8 tackles a game this season, with a standout performance in Round 1 against North Melbourne earning her a Rising Star nomination.

Morrison was a welcome return to the football field in 2022 after missing all of last season through injury, and embraced her new role as vice-captain.

The 21-year-old's mix of grunt work and drive were a highlight of many games, as she averaged 13.8 disposals and 5.9 tackles a game.

Scheer made a big impression in her first year at the Cats after crossing from Adelaide during the Sign and Trade period.

Playing forward and through the midfield, Scheer averaged 8.4 disposals and 2.2 tackles a game, kicking eight goals across the season - including three in a strong performance against reigning premiers Brisbane Lions in Round 4.

For a player to qualify for the 22Under22 squad, they must be 22 or under for the entirety of the AFLW season, up to and including Grand Final Day (April 4), and have played at least 50 per cent of matches across the season.
