Brisbane’s veteran, Ash McGrath, is optimistic the Lions have a chance of getting on top of the Cats if they stick tight to their game plan.

McGrath’s initial reaction, when asked how the Lions would beat the Cats, was not so positive.

“How does any one beat them?” McGrath laughed on www.lions.com.au

This weekend, McGrath will celebrate a significant milestone when he becomes the club’s 27th player to reach their 200th game.

Although, his main focus will be on game and his teammates.

Despite the Lions sitting on the lower end of the ladder, at 15, McGrath says that last week’s close battle against Fremantle gave the players a lot more confidence.

“We took a lot of confidence out of last week’s game, I thought we held Fremantle pretty close the whole game and I think it was just a few lapses in the last quarter that blew it out to 40 points,” McGrath said.

“We’ve got a game plan for this week and if we stick to it we think we can hold them (Cats) in good stead.”

The Lions will have an advantage of playing on their home ground this Sunday. McGrath says they've contested well against the Cats in the past and he predicts they'll perform well.

“The last couple of times we played Geelong at the Gabba, besides the game in the wet last year, I thought we played pretty well against them so if we hold our game plan that we’ve got in place this week, I think we’ll go alright.”
