In the mix versus Freo
We take a look at which Cats are a chance to line up against Fremantle
Andrew Mackie
The Cats desperately missed Mackie’s drive off the backline in their last two games. Last year’s All Australian expertly divides his time between attacking and defending like few in the league. After three weeks off since being subbed out with a hamstring injury in round five, a fit Mackie will be an automatic inclusion.
Jordan Schroder
Schroder was by far the Cats best player in their disappointing loss to Richmond’s VFL unit two weeks ago. The tough conditions suited the nuggety on-baller who finished up with 25 touches and 14 tackles. With Mathew Stokes missing will the Cats call upon a known ball winner to take his spot?
Jed Bews
Bews has now been on the cusp of selection for multiple weeks. His issue is the Cats backline is rock solid at the moment. However expect Bews to get his opportunity sooner rather than later.
Josh Walker
Walker has dropped back to third in the VFL goalkicking after kicking only one goal on the weekend in a day not made for tall forwards. Walker still contested well in the dismal conditions pulling in a team high five marks. Walker played well against the Eagles in Perth last year, using his big tank to push hard on Subiaco’s open expanses.
Mitch Brown
Brown was the Cats leading goalkicker for the loss to the VFL Tigers, booting two. Brown is another player suited to the large size of Subiaco. With perfect conditions expected, could the Cats use Brown’s strong marking and accurate kicking?
