The Geelong Cats are on a mission to raise $1 million in 1 day to help support their Cats Community programs for the next three years, with the support of generous donors matching community contributions to help the club reach its goal.

The giving day, which will take place next month, will be the second the club has held, after a similar Community Challenge in 2018 helped sustain the Club’s community programs from 2018-2021.

The Club’s campaign leading into the giving day in June, titled ‘A Million Reasons Why’, will see the Cats celebrate the stories of its programs and the impacts they have in the community.

“Our community is at the heart of what we do at the Geelong Cats, and we hope to be able to continue to deliver our range of community programs for many more years to come,” Cats captain Joel Selwood said.

“The Geelong community and our supporters were so generous in 2018, helping us sustain our programs for four years, including launching Australia’s first sensory inclusive stadium, connecting with our local multicultural community and offering the free Deakin Cats Community Centre to over 170 different groups.

“We aim to empower the Geelong community to thrive in building healthy, active and inclusive lives, and also continue our club’s 163-year history of support.”

The Cats Community Challenge will take place on Tuesday, 28 June. More information will be shared on the Geelong Cats channels in the lead-up to the event.
