Shaun Grigg on… Max Holmes’ Development
He's been super for us.
He obviously had a bit of an interrupted year with an ankle but the way Max trained all over summer and the way he has built his game has been pretty impressive. We noticed his run and power throughout last week's game was significant for us so he's come along way, but he has plenty left in him.
I'm not sure he's 'ahead of schedule', he's done a power of work with the coaches so the credit goes to Max clearly the way he's developed his game. The way he's bought into what we're trying to do and the way he handled the moments on the weekend was huge for us.
Shaun Grigg on… Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield
If you look at the impact of those guys when they came on - Joel's second half, he was almost best on ground for mine, he was significant in the contest and Pat had some great moments and also gave an opportunity to other mids to get it going for us. Guthrie, Atkins and sometimes we use Mark Blicavs in those roles so I think it speaks to the depth in there and you don't just ask one or two players to do all the heavy lifting.
Guys have really stood up, Atkins' last quarter was significant as well.
For us it's just about spreading the load and for the guys when they're on the ground in those positions to give everything they've got. We've shown that through the year, certain guys have started on the bench certain games, they've all taken their turn and the opportunity for other guys to stand up has been significant for us.
Shaun Grigg on… The Next Nine Days
We've obviously been through it just a week ago with the longer break so we won't do everything exactly the same as what we did last week but we'll have a decent hit out Friday and then look toward next week.
We’ll watch the game on Friday night and the next game Saturday and the boys will be ready to go.
We're really focused on our game and what we need to do to beat whoever we play but as a coach my focus will be, not just on that (Brisbane v Melbourne) but the other game as well.
Shaun Grigg on… Player Management Strategy
We haven't gone away from that all year, we've been pretty strong, with our medical team and fitness department all working closely together.
What's going to give us the best prep in the biggest games? Some of that's been forced upon us with injuries some surgery but those guys have planned it really well and so for players to stick with it and have belief and trust in that system, it's been a credit to them
