Despite the 71 point preliminary final over the Brisbane Lions, the Geelong rooms were remarkably subdued on Friday night

There’s been an understated determination about the Cats all season, and Patrick Dangerfied, speaking to Channel 7 post game described the feeling among the players in the lead up to Friday night's clash.

“Even pre-game it felt like it had a really balanced and building sort of mood,’ he said.

The Cats have been ‘balanced and building’ toward something all season, and even after such a convincing and clinical win over quality opposition on Preliminary Final Day, the mood appears to be one of unfinished business.

Dangerfield himself was all business, striking at the heart of the Lions hopes with the opening goal of the game within a minute of the first bounce, before snapping his second of the term 20 minutes later.

He’d finish the game with 28 disposals, nine marks, eight clearances, seven inside 50s, and eight score involvements, reminding everyone watching of the might and power of Dangerfield in full flight.

The 302 game veteran missed a chunk of the year mid-season due to a calf injury but according to Geelong coach Chris Scott, will go into the Grand Final in his best physical shape in years.

"He's in really good shape. Compared to where he's been previously, it's chalk and cheese. He's a bit older but he goes into the biggest game of the year in the best shape he's been in for years," Scott told media after the game.

The Geelong coach also said he had no doubt that Dangerfield could find his best form.

“I didn’t, and neither did he but we knew it was going to take some work.”
