For the first time in Geelong’s AFLW history, the Cats have strung together three wins in a row, and will be striving to make it four as they head to IKON Park for Pride Round.

The Cats will take on West Coast Eagles in the second match of a double-header at the venue as they look to continue their push towards a return to finals.

Key Points

Forwards Focus
As the Cats forwards find their synergy, the goalkicking task has been well shared among the team.

Against the Bombers, it was Chloe Scheer’s turn to step up, with a three-goal performance – including a dominant final term that yielded 2.3. Scheer now has seven goals for the season, and has had 27 score involvements – equal sixth in the league.

Shelley Scott has been instrumental since swinging back to a familiar position up forward, kicking five goals and driving the Cats forward to assist in others.

With good support from the rest of the forward line and the midfield, the Cats have had plenty of options in attack, with 14 individual goalkickers across the season – already three more than across the entire sixth season – including seven multiple goal scorers (two more than last season).

Disposals game
While the Cats had to work hard to regain control of the contest against Essendon last week, in general they have been seeing plenty more of the footy in Season 7, averaging 224.4 disposals a game, the third most of any team.

Conversely, the Eagles are averaging 185 disposals a game, the third lowest of any team in the league.

The Cats have two top-10 ball-winners in their midfield, with Amy McDonald (24.7 per game) and Georgie Prespakis (22.2) leading the way for Geelong. Becky Webster (19.4) makes it three Cats in the league’s top 20 disposal-getters, and a significant problem for any opposition midfield to contend with.
